'Tis the Season

Well its that time of year again. Got the trees up, one upstairs, one little one downstairs. Some of the ornaments are old, some are new, some I got from the thrift store, and some I still have from when I still believed in Santa Clause. As much as I love to decorate with bright, shiny, colourful things, a lot of these ornaments have such a special nostalgic value filled with many fond memories which I am greatful to be able to bring out year after year :)

Bloody Earrings

In the spirit of Halloween, here's just a quick, fun crafty project you can do yourself if you wanted!  All you need is a hot glue gun, red spray paint or nail polish, needle nose pliers, earring hooks, and a solid surface. A piece of glass or plexi glass is preferrable.

Although the earrings in this pic are fairly rough, this is my very first shot at making them.

All you do is, with the glue gun, make some drips on the surface. But before you do that make sure you lightly coat the surface with a little cooking oil or something to make sure the glue drips peel off easily. I learned this the hard way as I used plexi and the glue dries fairly quickly. Then you can apply the red colour. I used nail polish. Then after that dries, you can either make a twisty loop with some wire or directly attach them onto the earring hook's wire loop.  Either way, this is done with the needle nose pliers to close the loop properly. And although the glue maybe dry, it's still soft enough to poke wire through.

And there you have it!  A pair of bloody earrings of ghoulish delight. I hope you've enjoyed this brief tutorial and have yourself a fun and happy Halloween!

Hemp Wrap Bracelet

It has been quite a while since I did much with jewelry as I have been distracted with other creative projects but I have felt the need to get back into it, again.  So today I hand-wove a bracelet made of hemp (one of my favourite blue shades) with repurposed beads & charms.  This is also now available for purchase on Etsy.  You can view it here. :)

Inspired by Nature

So the other day, to take a much needed break from sitting in front of the computer indoors, I thought I'd finally go venture out to the nearby Queens Park with my camera.  Though the weather was hot, the sun was casting all these wonderful shadows amongst the trees.  I could not help myself but to take as many photos as possible and to capture as many angles as I could.  It was a fantastic day for taking pictures. :)  And now I have just uploaded a few to my online shop available for download. They are all at least 300 megapixels and there are still many more to come but it takes a fare bit of time to go through each one and do the uploading process and so forth.  Here's just a few of the images and if you click on them, it'll take ya right to the shop.  So feel free to check them out as there will be more! :)
